There is already a high -voltage station between Diemen and Muiden, but to be able to provide the growing power demand, TenneT wants to build a station in the area. The location was chosen because there is already a high -voltage connection between Diemen and Breukelen. The new station can then be connected to this.
A high -voltage station connects different parts of the electricity grid. It can switch and lower the voltage. You can see it as the exit from the highway, the high -voltage network, to the provincial roads, the medium voltage network. This station must meet the future electricity supply for Amsterdam-Zuidoost and the surrounding region, including Diemen, De Ronde Venen and Amstelveen.
Four locations
The network operator currently has four locations in mind where the station could be. The first location is near the Diemerbos, the second location around the Gaasperplas and the extension of Gein, the third location is in the direction of Abcoude and the last location is more in the direction of Weesp. The third and fourth location are in the province of Utrecht.
