For residents of villages in Aa and Hunze with a protected village view, it will now be easier to install solar panels on the roof of their home. The municipality will relax the rules for installing solar panels.
Last night, the city council of Aa en Hunze agreed to a proposal from coalition party Gemeentebelangen to add a new rule to the policy.
In order not to affect the characteristic village view, solar panels in Anloo, Annerveenschekanaal and Eexterveenschekanaal were previously not allowed to be placed on top of the front of a house.
That is now possible, but only for homes where there is no other option than placement on the front roof. It also remains mandatory to apply for a permit to install the panels in a protected village view. This is not necessary in other places in the municipality.
Earlier this week, RTV Drenthe made a report in Annerveenschekanaal, where some residents struggled with the rules surrounding solar panels.
