Placebo release limited vinyl edition “Placebo Paint”

Placebo release a limited edition 7 inch vinyl featuring covers of Tears For Fears’ “Shout” and Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill”. Also, the Limited Edition titled “Placebo Paint” will be available in an autonomously changing shade.

The record was created in collaboration with British artist Stuart Semple. Regarding the cooperation, he explains: “I’ve always loved the covers of Placebo, they always seem to pick up such important songs for the time we live in. Being in the studio and working with the lyrics of ‘SHOUT’ was amazing – as well as how relevant they are to our lives. I feel like a lot of people are carrying a lot of emotions right now.”

According to the press release, “Placebo Paint” was inspired by Semple’s “lifelong love of placebo.” The statement also states: “PLACEBO changes color in different lighting conditions from a deep purple to black to a shimmering blue”.

For the cover artwork, Semple painted an original painting in acrylic and charcoal on canvas titled SHOUT. “Placebo have always evoked colors in my head. I’ve painted along with their records since I was a teenager and this blue black is something I think expresses the feeling and emotion behind the music. When we bring our emotions to the surface and express ourselves, it can look dark and painful, but there’s always a beauty in it.”

Alongside the release, Placebo and Semple have also produced 1,000 limited edition and handcrafted bottles of 100ml Placebo paint, each packaged in an embossed box. Both products will be released on December 1, 2022 and can be pre-ordered now.
