Piotr Zyla and a ruffled jumpsuit

Poland’s Piotr Zyla’s jumpsuit has attracted attention at Mäkiviiko.

The crotch area of Piotr Zyla’s jumpsuit has attracted attention. PDO

Piotr Zylan the jumpsuit has aroused astonishment, even indignation. Mäkiwiikko’s commenters have found pictures to back up their words, where the dress seems to stretch quite a bit from the crotch.

– The pictures were taken in situations where the performance has already been done and in the most amazing positions, he points out Mika Jukkaraa Finnish mountain wear specialist.

– For some reason, Zyla has made headlines, but I would almost say that when the Finnish boys brake, it (the suit) looks pretty much the same.

Last season, Jukkara worked as the equipment controller for the ski jumping operations of the International Ski Federation.

– Has the Polish team come up with some gimmick or do they just have more skilled seamstresses? Somehow it has to do with the cut of the suit, he mumbles.

– The Polish boys knew how to make the costumes well, but if you compare during the flight, they are still quite close to each other.

To put it simply: hemming is about stretching the suit, which is achieved with sewing and planning technical know-how.

– When the suits are roughly the same during the flight, then it is good from the point of view of equality, Jukkara emphasizes.

– Considering this season, we have been successful in patching up the loopholes in the rules. Fine adjustments were made during the summer, defining, for example, the shape of the leg more precisely.

When measuring the jumpsuit, the athlete stands in a crotch position of 30 centimeters.

– During aerial flight, the legs are separated by half a meter or even almost a meter. That also makes a difference between the athletes, Jukkara mentions.

– There will always be differences in the costumes, just like in the formulas. It’s part of the game, and I don’t see it as catastrophic.

Zyla is third in overall points after the races in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. His countryman Dawid Kubacki is second.

Mountain week continues on Tuesday and Wednesday in Innsbruck.

Piotr Zyla is fighting for Mäkiviiko’s victory. PDO
