The five-part drama series The Year of Fortuyn kicked off at 9.30 yesterday evening with 991 thousand viewers (21% market share), making it the most watched TV broadcast at that time. The series benefited from a good lead-in: immediately before, Flikken Maastricht reached 1.5 million viewers (27%).

Volkskrant lyrical

Since the protagonists in this series are still so fresh in the memory, The Year of Fortuyn reminds many people a bit of Koefnoen. But in general the reactions are positive. “Had fun watching! It took a while to get used to the style, but that went quickly!” says Luuk Ikink, for example.

Even the Volkskrant is positive. “We’ll say it right away: it is one of the best Dutch series of recent years. (… ) The year of Fortuyn is a balancing act, which succeeds in embedding the irresistible comedy elements in an at times gripping tragedy of fate.”

Astrid on two

The other most watched prime-time titles were the Astrid Joosten quiz Twee voor Twelf with 1.2 million viewers (20%) on NPO 2 and the Carlo Boszhard show I Can See Your Voice with 1 million viewers (20%) on RTL 4. SBS 6 attracted 659 thousand viewers (12%).

Since Friday is Arjen Lubach’s day off, Jinek was the most watched talk show with 881 thousand viewers. This is followed by Op1 (743 thousand), Today Inside (694 thousand), Khalid and Sophie (620 thousand), Time for MAX (459 thousand) and HLF8 (294 thousand).
