Pieter Omtzigt in Op1 compared to Trump: ‘Bad nonsense!’

Pieter Omtzigt was compared to former American president Donald Trump in the talk show Op1 last night. And that causes a lot of annoyance. “This is just downright evil nonsense.”

He will still participate in the House of Representatives elections throughout the Netherlands: the highly praised politician Pieter Omtzigt. The candidate list of his political party NSC has been presented and there are 44 people on it, enough to participate in all electoral districts. The news broke last night On 1 discussed by Thomas van Groningen.

Omtzigt vs Trump

At one point, presenter Margje Fikse also asks Marieke de Vries, NOS correspondent in the United States, for her opinion. “Would such a party survive in the United States?”

Marieke: “Well, we also have a rather special person who is now the leader of one of the traditional parties, but of course people also came and voted for him when Trump of course took over the party with his own ideas and own fears that he managed to tap into or concerns of the people he managed to tap into.”

Loner

Margje is surprised by this comment. “I don’t know if Omtzigt would be happy to be compared to Trump.”

Marieke, however, does not withdraw her words: “No, I don’t know that either, but of course he is also a loner.”

She also has her doubts about the NSC candidate list. “I especially wonder: what have all these people come to if there is no program at all?”

Evil nonsense

Telegraaf columnist Nausicaa Marbe finds it incredible that this can be said without contradiction in Op1. She complains X: “Marieke de Vries compares Omtzigt with Trump at Op1: ‘Also someone with his own ideas and his own fears that he managed to tap into in people.’”

She continues: “Globbery. But no one at the table asks this zwansmarieke why she sells bad nonsense. Did you doze off, Tijs van den Brink?”

Dozed off

Economist Jean Wanningen answers: “He dozed off because he strongly agreed with Zwansmarieke.”

Nausicaa: “No. But discussion, depth, explanation, facts behind the sound bites questions are apparently not the intention.”

According to her, it is a ‘ridiculous comparison’. “Which immediately deserved criticism. You don’t let a NOS correspondent at your table sell such nonsense without a response.”
