He ran for Hamburger SV 138 times and scored 49 goals. In particular, his goal in the relegation in 2014 should be remembered forever: This saved the HSV from the first Bundesliga descent. Now the Hanseatic Hanseate hero has declared his active professional career over after around 15 years.

“What a way,” wrote Lasogga on Instagram: “As a young boy, I had the dream of playing in front of thousands of fans in big stadiums – and I was able to experience that. I am incredibly grateful for this trip.”

The massive center forward certainly drew attention to himself at the HSV. In 2019, the 33-year-old today moved to Al-Arabi in Qatar. In 2023 Lasogga, who took his first steps as a professional for Hertha BSC, returned to Germany to the reserve of FC Schalke 04. There, the Gladbeck native was even used again in the season’s sprint. “Thanks to all clubs whose jersey I was allowed to wear – I always gave everything and fully identified myself with you,” said Lasogga.

It is also apparently already certain how things go for him. According to the “Bild”, Lasogga will be the co-coach of the U23 of FC Schalke 04 for the coming season.

After four years, Ludovit Reis apparently leaves Hamburger SV and joins FC Bruges from Belgium. The association, which has qualified for the Champions League, is to transfer around six million euros to the HSV, it said of transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri.

Officially, both clubs have not yet commented on the transfer. The HSV would have to pass 25 percent of the transfer fee to FC Barcelona – this had been agreed when traveling to Hamburg in the summer of 2021.

For HSV, the 25-year-old played 129 competitive games, in which he scored 20 goals and contributed 13 templates. In the promotion season, the Dutch temporarily led the HSV as captain.

Horst Hrubesch said goodbye to Hamburg SV on June 30, 2025. After internal conversations, the 74-year-old made the decision to submit his leading function: “I will always be connected to the HSV and now like to hand over the fortunes to the next generation,” he said according to the club report. His contract expires regularly.

Hrubesch was significantly involved in the restructuring of the young area and the establishment of women’s football. Board of Directors Stefan Kuntz paid respect: “If Horst has made a final decision, it is hardly possible to change it.”

Almost five years after moving from DFB to HSV, Hrubesch handed over his tasks to a new team around Christoph Rohmer, Loic Fave, Julia Brinkschröder and Saskia Breuer. The new leadership crew had already shaped strategic decisions last season.
