Sit seemed inevitable. We all took it for granted that i «two friends» announced by Carlo Conti for the first evening of Sanremo 2025 they would have been Leonardo Pieraccioni And Giorgio Panarello. And instead… But no: with a coup de théâtrethe Florentine host revealed who they will be Antonella Clerici and Gerry Scotti to join him to inaugurate the Festival. But someone “felt bad”. Pieraccioni, in fact, shared an ironic video on Instagram to “dispute” the choice of the artistic director: «First evening “I’ll call my friends, I’ll call my friends”, okay then call your friends. Then it turns out that the friends are Clerici and Gerry Scotti.”
Sanremo 2025: Conti’s unexpected choice
Carlo Conti, who will lead the event staged at the Ariston from 11 to 15 February 2025had initially announced that he would be alone on opening night and that he would perhaps be joined by two friends. Then the twist: a link to It’s always midday to reveal the co-hosts. «We will have fun together in this beautiful adventure», said Conti, confirming the debut of Gerry Scotti on the Festival stage and underlining the special bond with Antonella Clerici.
Leonardo Pieraccioni and the “after sun” of friendship
Not everyone, however, felt involved in this choice. Pieraccioni, with his usual sarcasm, did not hide his surprise: «All right. But you didn’t have aftersun, at 22 years old, I brought you aftersun. Me and Giorgio”. A joke, sure. But who knows if it hides a hint of disappointment. The reference, obviously, is to long friendship which links Pieraccioni and Panariello to Conti, a triad of Tuscans who made the history of Italian entertainment.
Pieraccioni’s video found the full support of Giorgio Panariellowho responded in the comments: “Bravo!! You took the words out of my mouth!». At that point, it was Carlo Conti’s turn to reply directly, keeping his tone light: «Or what do you blame aftersun after all these years????».
Clerici, Scotti and the memory of Frizzi
Despite the jokes, Conti wanted to explain his motivations. The choice of Antonella Clerici and Gerry Scotti was presented as a tribute to the special relationship that unites them. During the announcement, the host has fondly remembered Fabrizio Frizzi: «If Fabrizio had also been there he would certainly have been with us on that stage in that episode».
The friendship between Conti and Pieraccioni remains, despite the choices
Between digs and jokes, the friendship between Conti, Pieraccioni and Panariello actually remains very solid. Tuscan irony, moreover, is the glue of a bond that goes far beyond the stage. Even if this time they will not be protagonists in Sanremo, Pieraccioni and Panariello seem to have taken the opportunity to give the public a moment of lightness. And then who knows, between now and the start of the Festival there could be some other surprises.
