The 300 cc version of the three-wheeled scooter retires, but a 530 arrives at the top of the range. The new Piaggio MP3 is characterized by a completely new design and a markedly sporty look, but above all by a technological package that includes the Aras, the driver assistance systems.

Here it is, the new MP3, the Piaggio three-wheeler which, 16 years after its first launch on the market, is renewed again, to remain on the throne of a segment of which it is essentially the inventor. With this new generation, the MP3 range greets the 300 cc version to welcome the top-of-the-range 530 version, as well as the availability of the 400 cc, but above all a technological package that makes it the first scooter to be able to boast the Aras.

From a design point of view, following the path traced by the Beverly, the style becomes markedly sportier, with lines that continue to draw inspiration from the automotive world. The clean cut with the past is evident in the front, completely redesigned and characterized by a full LED horizontal lighting, an air intake with a honeycomb grille and direction indicators integrated in the wheel arches. References to the four-wheel universe are also found at the rear, with the optical unit also with LED and horizontal development, under which the extractor opens. The positioning of the license plate holder on the wheel – a first in MP3 history – helps to give momentum to the rear.

Three versions will be available, all powered by the engines of the HPE (High Performance Engine) family: MP3 400 hpe and MP3 400 hpe Sport, equipped with the 400 cc with over 35 HP, and the top of the range MP3 530 hpe Exclusive, which uses instead the 530 hpe with 44 HP of power. If the three-wheeler from Pontedera therefore greets the 300 version that has remained in the price list until now, it instead welcomes a highly important technological package, which makes it the first scooter to be equipped with Aras (Advanced Rider Assistance System) devices. The aid platform is based on Imaging Radar 4D technology and is developed by Piaggio Fast Forward, the robotics company of the group based in Boston: present the Blis (Blind Spot Information System) and the Lcdas (Lane Change Decision Aid System), which they interact with the driver through the generous 7-inch TFT color screen that dominates the dashboard. Through the instrumentation, also clearly of automotive inspiration, it is possible to manage numerous functions including navigation, connectivity and, on the 530 hpe Exclusive version, even engine maps (Comfort, Eco and Sport) and cruise control, as well as to clearly display the rear view camera images when reversing (exclusive to this set-up). Obviously, the keyless system is not missing.

The new Piaggio three-wheeler will be available in dealerships from the end of June, but can already be booked online on the official website: 10,499 euros are required for the MP3 400 hpe e, which rises to 10,999 for the Sport. MP3 530 hpe Exclusive, on the other hand, is priced at 12,999 euros ex-dealer.
