The Phoenix Suns strike twice: As can be seen from media reports, the franchise from Arizona has agreed on a contract with Jared Butler and Jordan Goodwin. The two point guards should be in direct competition.
As Shams Charania (“ESPN”) reports, the Butler page has agreed on a one-year contract with the Suns.
Butler was last under contract for the Philadelphia 76ers before becoming a free agent this summer. At the 76ers, he played 28 games (17 starts) last season and came to 11.5 points, 4.9 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game.
Previously, the 24-year-old played for Utah Jazz (2021/22), Oklahoma City Thunder (2022/23) and Washington Wizards (2023/24 and 2024/25). In its 148 NBA games, the Point Guard has so far reached a career cut of 6.7 points and 2.8 assists at 1.5 rebounds per game.
Suns: Goodwin is also coming
ESPN reports that Goodwin also moves to the Suns. The 26-year-old was last on the Waiver list because the Los Angeles Lakers, for whom he played last season, released him. At the Lakers, the man from Centreville stood 29 times on the court, he came to 5.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.
Goodwin started his NBA career 2021/22 for the Wizards and also played for the Memphis Grizzlies (2023/24) and actually in Phoenix (2023/24). He played 40 games for the Suns.
Gerald Bouruet from “Phnx Sports” assumes that Butler and Goodwin will have to duel in the training camp for the 14th squadplatz at the Suns. The other players on their position (Point Guard) are Devin Booker and Collin Gillespie.
