VideosCristiano Ronaldo has surpassed Ruud van Nistelrooy at Manchester United. The Portuguese attacker made a hat-trick in the home game against Tottenham Hotspur (3-2) and now stands at 96 goals for the English top club in the Premier League, one more than Van Nistelrooy.
Ronaldo is now fourth in the ranking, Van Nistelrooy fifth. Wayne Rooney tops the table with 183 league goals for Manchester United. This is followed by Ryan Giggs (109) and Paul Scholes (107).
Thanks to Ronaldo’s hat-trick, Man United won the top match against the Spurs. The Portuguese superstar gave his team the lead three times: in the twelfth, 38th and 81st minutes. Harry Kane made it 1-1 from a penalty kick in the 35th minute. Harry Maguire’s own goal tied the score for a third time: 2-2. Ronaldo’s striking header (3-2) never got over Tottenham.
Manchester United have 50 points after 29 games and are fifth in the table. That position does not say everything, by the way, since number five Arsenal has a lot fewer loss points: 48 points after 25 matches. The Spurs have 45 points after 27 games.
