Phenomenal Anouk Vetter wins with new points record heptathlon in Götzis

Anouk Vetter has won the prestigious Götzis heptathlon. The 29-year-old from Amsterdam did that with a Dutch record of 6,693 points.

After the first day, Vetter was also in good shape in Austria. The athlete, who won silver in the all-around at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, was in second place. Vetter ran 13.28 seconds in the 100m hurdles, followed by 1.74m in the high jump, 14.88m in the shot put and 23.76m in the 200m.

On the final day, Vetter struck in the long jump (6.47 meters) and the javelin throw. With a distance of 59.81 meters she improved her personal best by more than one meter. After the javelin, Vetter ran 2 minutes, 21 seconds and 56 hundredths in the 800 meters.

In the final standings, Vetter had collected 264 points more than Adrianna Sulek, who grabbed the silver. Emma Oosterwegel, who took bronze in Tokyo, was fifth in Götzis with 6,265 points.

Rick Taam

The all-around in Götzis also went very well for Rik Taam. The athlete from De Rijp was sixth with 8,246 points and thus achieved a personal points record. In the 400 meters he was the fastest with a personal best of 47.28 seconds. He also sharpened his PR in the 100 meters (10.62 seconds) and the 110 meters hurdles (14.45 seconds).
