Pharmacy for children: free medicines for children in difficulty

THEMany mothers can’t afford to go into the pharmacy because they don’t have money to buy medicines, even basic necessities for their children. Here because Francesca Rava NPH Foundation – Italy ETS together with KPMG Networkthey organized the XI edition of In the pharmacy for children: a national initiative that will take place from 17 to 24 November, on the occasion of World Children’s Rights Day. Taking care of your health is a fundamental right. Especially that of children.

The objective of the initiative is in fact raising awareness of children’s rights and the collection of medicines and baby-care products for minors in poverty healthcare.
“In Pharmacy for children”, which has received the President of the Republic’s Medal for 8 years, takes place thanks to the precious collaboration of friendly companies and volunteers and sees pharmacists and their social responsibility at the center of a great team. Martina Colombari is testimonial of the national and voluntary initiative of the Francesca Rava Foundation.

Institutional partners of the initiative are Federfarma and Cosmofarma Exhibition, with the patronage of FOFI, Farmindustria, Assosalute and Egualia. Also for the XI edition the key theme is One Planet, One Health. In the name of social and environmental sustainability, encouraging the activation of all the links that revolve around children starting from the pharmacy, the central link as the proximity service par excellence and promoter of initiatives to support prevention and well-being.

Over 1 and a half million products as gifts

In 10 years, the initiative has been able to collect over 1 and a half million products donated to 4,000 beneficiary organizations in Italy and toSaint Damien pediatric hospital in Haiti. More than 212,000 minors in health poverty were helped, thanks to the precious collaboration of 12,000 participating pharmacies throughout Italy and the support of 22,000 volunteers.

Pharmacists are the real protagonists of the “In Pharmacy for Children” initiative. Together with them, there are volunteers who will welcome customers and invite them to participate in the collection and friendly companies, who also participate in the initiative with a corporate volunteering action. This is why it is important to mention these “child-friendly” companies. The right to life and the Ninna Ho project

Among the rights of children, the right to life must also be remembered, defended and protected by I have a baby, the first national project against neonatal abandonment and infanticide, born in 2008 from an idea of ​​the Francesca Rava Foundation and the KPMG Network in Italy. The mission is to spread the current Italian legislation (Presidential Decree 396/2000), which allows future mothers, Italian or foreign, in serious difficulty, to be able to give birth in anonymity and safety, for their own health and that of the unborn child, in all public hospital facilities (www.ninnaho.org).
