Mid-career update for the sedan and station wagon from the French brand Stellantis. More sophisticated design and motor range extended to every type of power supply
The lion lights up the nights and the front of the renovated building Peugeot 308on the sedan as on the station wagon. They arrive in Italian dealerships with a more incisive light signature and an engine range that embraces every type of fuel. The diesel returns, the 100% electric unit and the mild hybrid are confirmed, together with the plug-in hybrid with improved zero-emission mileage. The price of Peugeot 308 Hybrid 145 HP, the protagonist of our test, starts from 33,140 euros. The top step is occupied by the 308 diesel starting from 33,620 euros; the electric e-308 from 39,980 euros and the plug-in hybrid from 41,245 euros.

More sophisticated design on the front, updated in the slimmer cut of the full LED headlights, where the three vertical light points inside offer a new interpretation of the now famous claw. The symbolism loses the fangs of previous editions in favor of a backlit logo, in the center of the mosaic grille perfectly integrated with the sloping lines of the bonnet. The aesthetic changes on the back are more subtle, limited to a more pronounced profile of the headlights. The dimensions are almost unchanged: the sedan is 4.36 meters long, 1.85 wide, 1.44 high, with a wheelbase of 2.73 metres. The minimum boot capacity is 412 liters on the 308 Hybrid, dropping to 361 on the electric one, up to 314 on the plug-in. The length of the 308 SW increases to 4.66 metres, the boot capacity from 599 liters to around 1,500 litres.
2Engines and Interiors
—
2026 marks the return to the scene of the 131 HP 4-cylinder 1.5 BlueHdi diesel, alongside the 145 HP Hybrid, the 195 HP plug-in and the 156 HP electric. Compared to the past, the battery capacity rises to 17.2 kWh which allows the 308 Plug-in Hybrid to gain a handful of electric range, up to almost 100 km in ideal conditions of use. The interiors are designed according to the criteria of the latest generation i-Cockpit, where the visibility of the 10″ display of the instrument panel, updated with 3D graphics, is not compromised by the upper part of the steering wheel thanks to the higher position. The driving position is Agr certified (optional in the Allure and GT trims) on ergonomics and adjustments for the front seats, which allow you to easily find the ideal driving position and the most comfortable one for the passenger. Award-winning ergonomics also from the analogue/digital mix of the i-toggle switch, the piano-style keys dedicated to managing a large portion of the main on-board functions. The infotainment system offers wireless compatibility with Android Auto or Apple Car Play smartphones, rechargeable by induction in the dedicated compartment on the central tunnel, which houses drink holders and storage compartments. Not top of the class in terms of capacity. In general, the quality of the coverings and finishes is high.
3How is it going
—
One of the most popular versions in the Italian market is the Peugeot 308 Hybrid 145 HPpowered by the 1.2 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, assisted by 48 volt mild-hybrid technology. The 240 Nm of torque are discharged to the front wheels through the 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the 0.876 kWh battery ensures, according to the company, up to 50% zero-emission driving when used in the city. It offers the best in smooth, jerk-free driving, in the city as well as on the more airy extra-urban routes. The steering calibration rewards handling, without compromising precision until the pace is forced. In Sport mode the reactions to the accelerator are less filtered, roll and pitch reduced to a minimum, while the good responsiveness between tight bends compensates for a slight tendency to widen the trajectory in longer bends. Consumption data, to be confirmed in a more in-depth test drive, indicated 5.3 l/100 km.
4Who is it aimed at?
—
Electrified sedans for singles or families to choose based on use: mainly urban for the 145 HP e-308 and 308 Hybrid, urban and extra-urban for the 195 HP Plug-in Hybrid. The 131 HP diesel 308 SW, on the other hand, winks at those looking for low fuel consumption spread over thousands of km per year.
