Petrus Palmu is not moving to Jukurei

Petrus Palmu is in the starting pits for the Örebro team.

Petrus Palmu was Jukurie’s captain and best scorer last season. Now the attacker plays in the SHL’s Örebro, but hardly for much longer. MIKKO LIERI / AOP

Petrus Palmu, who performed magic tricks for 59 (26+33) power points in the Liiga and in Jukurien’s shirt last season, will change employers in the near future.

The diminutive striker’s game does not work in Örebro.

Palmu has played 12 matches in the SHL and scored 1+3. Last week he whistled while watching the Färjestad game and in the next game against Malmö he got 12 minutes of ice time.

In Sweden, we are certain that Palmu will disappear from Örebro. However, the direction will not be back to Mikkeli, even though such rumors are abounding at the moment.

– I have no information that he is returning to us. I would know. According to the current information, he will not come to us, says Jukurie’s development manager Mikko Hakkarainen For Iltalehti.

Jukurit is watching

The plan is to strengthen the team in Mikkeli.

– We have Johan Harjun with a try out contract until the national team break. Let’s watch it in peace. If he doesn’t continue with us, then we’ll probably look at a player to replace him. If he continues, at least we won’t be looking for a striker after that, says the club boss.

– This is still early. The final team will be assembled in February. Players are watched every day.

Where does Palmu go?

Palmu will continue to play abroad, even though 3-4 league teams are interested in the Joensuu graduate.

– There is a bit of interest everywhere. Let’s wait a little longer now. Certain clubs have to make moves if they want space in their team. And Petrus is in no hurry. He has a contract, says Palmu agency representative Antero Niittymäki.

Palmu was chosen as the most valuable player of the regular season last season. Palmu beat Anton Levtchi of Tappara and Eemeli Suomen of Ilves in the voting for the Lasse Oksanen award.

The winner of the award was chosen by a vote of hockey journalists.
