The recommended retail price for petrol is on Wednesday at a new record level of 2,193 euros per liter.
Consumer collective UnitedConsumers reports this, which monitors the recommended prices of five major oil companies on a daily basis. Oil prices rose sharply on Tuesday due to tensions surrounding Ukraine. Diesel will cost 1.87 euros per liter from Wednesday, but was slightly more expensive last week.
Petrol price above 2.20 euros
Market expert Paul van Selms indicated earlier Tuesday that he expected the petrol to cost more than 2.20 euros per liter. He thinks that fuel can become a penny more expensive per day.
Refueling has been getting more and more expensive for some time now. This is partly due to the high demand for fuel caused by the economic recovery from the corona crisis. Another factor is the fact that the large oil-producing countries of oil cartel OPEC and ally Russia continue to be prepared to open the oil tap considerably extra.
High petrol price only along the highway
Incidentally, the suggested retail price almost only has to be paid along the highway. Filling stations offer the necessary discounts along smaller roads. With various cheap pumps it is therefore still possible to refuel for less than 2 euros per liter.
