Bob Sikkes is part of the enormous success of the RTL 4 show without looking. He has since become a Dutch celebrity, but we hardly see him in other programs. Is Make Up Your Mind nothing for him? “I have been asked several times, but I think it’s too easy to participate,” he says in the Weekend.
Stupid word
Why does Bob find that too easy? “Because I am sitting at RTL and – I call it just how stupid I think the word – I am gay. Peter R. de Vries was the first to pop out, someone you just would never expect. That’s the best thing to watch, I think.”
Why does he have so much trouble expressing that word? “Because I actually think it should not matter. I have had it with Peter van der Vorst in the past, he said,” You could be more outer. ” But that is precisely what I hope is not necessary. “
Gay
Bob did not accept Peter’s request. “I now know that it is necessary, but I am a structural engineer on TV and not a gay architect.”
When asked why Peter said to him, he replies: “An example: I was recently at the Gay Pride in Utrecht. There I met several guys who told me that they think it is a nice and inspiring example to discover that I have a man, something they had not expected at all.”

All in all, Bob does not want to be a signboard. “No. I have now embraced it. It is as it is and everyone can know. But I think it is a bit of a shame if that will be part of me.”
“At Carlo Boszhard, through a program like Make Up Your Mind, it is a big part. But I am not like that and that is not how I want on television. I don’t feel comfortable with it, so I will not do that either.”
