Hey, Peter van der Vorst’s moral compass is out of whack again. This time he hoists the violent actor Marouane Meftah on the shield, to the horror of his victims. “What does RTL do?!”
Stop hating, start loving, be sweet: it remains hilarious that Peter van der Vorst ever dared to utter this slogan. What a situation at RTL again. There seems to be a bully in the weather department, there is a bad working atmosphere on the set of Videoland, according to Teun Kuilboer, and now the channel management is hoisting a violent actor on its shield.
Victim in shock
RTL casually appoints Marouane Meftah (22) as the protagonist of the new Videoland series Rippers. Nice for the diversity so desired by Peter van der Vorst, but in the meantime Justice is still prosecuting this Marouane for two serious assaults on football fields in September 2024 and February 2025. And that is according to RTL Boulevard very bad.
Bernard Sprenger, the lawyer for one of the victims, is stunned. He says to the show section: “My client mainly believes that this platform that Meftah is now getting in the series, that he only deserves it after the criminal case.”
Flesh wound
It is not that Meftah has given anyone a little push, Bernard emphasizes. “There was a football match going on and a skirmish took place between Meftah and the captain. My client then intervened and received a huge blow to the head, which left him with a broken nose and a flesh wound above his eye.”
“What my client finds annoying is that someone is now given such a platform that many people look at, with a certain prestige. He then resents RTL for already being given such a platform while waiting for the criminal case. He believes that this should have been postponed for a while.”
Bad timing
Presenter Daphne Bunskoek does not understand the RTL leadership. “Yes, Aran, not good timing, huh?”
Reporter Aran Bade: “Absolutely not, no. The news that a series has simply been ordered by RTL, that it has already been recorded and that he also plays the leading role in it, I find that really remarkable. We have talked about Peter Gillis very often here, but apparently these recordings have also continued and he plays the leading role in it.”
Watch your place
Luuk Ikink doesn’t understand his own bosses. “I don’t understand Videoland and RTL why you would want that. Why do you start with that? You can also think: we might do this later. In the meantime, just take a moment, just like they did with Danny de Munk.”
Daphne: “Also because there are images. With Danny de Munk it was one word against another, but here we just saw images.”
Butter on head
Aran criticizes the RTL top. “I think it’s quite special from RTL. We all participate in the media pact Respectful Collaboration. It feels like butter on your head when you see this today.”
What butter on your head looks like verbally? RTL says: “We disapprove of any form of violence. At the same time, Marouane is currently a suspect and has not been convicted. It is not up to us to assess the content of an ongoing criminal case or to anticipate a possible outcome.”
Incomprehensible
TV gown Clarice Stenger cannot follow this. “I don’t really understand RTL’s choice. (…) You have to be consistent as RTL. Then you shouldn’t say to Danny: ‘You are no longer allowed to work for us’, and say something else here. If you have a policy you have to be strict about it and then this is very incomprehensible.”
Luuk: “It almost seems as if they hadn’t thought about the fact that this was still happening and that they had forgotten about it for a while or something.”
Talpa attitude
This is the typical Talpa attitude, Evert Santegoeds notes Show news. “RTL wants to wait and see and they pay close attention to how Talpa acts in these types of situations.”
Ronald Molendijk is surprised: “They have seriously approached this differently at The Voice.”
Evert: “And with Marco too, yes.”
Ronald: “It was like that: all gone. Or Danny de Munk. That was a similar story, but then: gone!”
Stop hating, start loving, be sweet. And Marouane Meftah gets a hug first.
