Peter Maffay got a figure of himself from the toy manufacturer Playmobil. The plastic Peter was presented to him on January 31st at the toy fair in Nuremberg.

The 73-year-old is not yet sure whether he will give his daughter the character. “I’ll have to think about it carefully,” he said. The musician is proud of the unique piece that was modeled after him. The small statue with a leather jacket, guitar and three-day beard is reminiscent of the young Maffay – but his distinctive mole on the mouth is missing. It is not known if the character will go into series production.

Born in Romania, he said he played with things he invented and built himself in his birthplace Brasov (German: Kronstadt). His first playmates were his family’s two dogs. “We didn’t have many toys because there was next to nothing in this country after the war,” he said. “We invented things that we played with. But mostly we were actually always outside.”
