Peter Gillis loses holiday park catering permit

The catering permit of Oostappen Vakantiepark Arnhem owned by owner Peter Gillis from Ommel has been withdrawn. That is what mayor Ahmed Marcouch of the municipality of Arnhem says. This means that his café-restaurant and snack bar at the park must close immediately. “As a government, you don’t want to facilitate bad entrepreneurs,” Marcouch told Omroep Gelderland.

The decision was taken after a so-called Bibob investigation, which looks at integrity, money flows and behavior, explains Marcouch. What is in that investigation is classified. But Marcouch points to the signals from various media reports and other municipalities around the Massa is Kassa TV star. For example, it concerns tax fraud.

In any case, the investigation showed that the integrity of the well-known Brabander is at stake, says Marcouch. “It is a pity that you have to take such a measure. But you hope that this will prevent wrong money and wrong influences. It is therefore good that we can set this standard and thus create space for good entrepreneurs.”

And the camping guests? They will have to get their beer and fries themselves somewhere else or have them delivered.

Peter Gillis and his lawyer have been informed of the decision by letter and have not yet responded to it, according to Marcouch. They have previously been allowed to respond to the investigation. “That has not led us to come to a different decision.”

Gillis is also at odds with the local government in Limburg (Baarlo), Belgium (Lommel) and Brabant. In Loon op Zand and Asten, for example, he was imposed penalty payments and permits were also refused in Cranendonck and Peel en Maas because of doubts about integrity. In Lommel he has to demolish an illegally built villa.
