Peter Gillis closes with a record low, Meiland biographer: ‘This is exit!’

Peter Gillis was probably seen for the very last time last night with his own TV soap. The slot of Massa is Kassa attracted only 400,000 viewers. “A record low.”

“That was it. Thanks for the endurance. Bye!” With those words, voice-over Frank Lammers closed the season finale of Family Gillis: Massa is Kassa last night. SBS 6 only takes a decision about the future of Peter Gillis after the lawsuit about the abuse of his ex-girlfriend Nicol Kremers, but it doesn’t look good.

Inglorious end

It seems that Peter was really on television for the very last time and with 400 thousand viewers (9 percent market share) he says a disappointing farewell to SBS 6. He just manages to maintain himself in the top 25 viewing figure. writes viewing figure connoisseur Tina Nijkamp. “An inglorious end for Peter Gillis on TV.”

These are really low numbers, says Tina. “Just not a record low, but it is the second worst watched episode ever. The record low was 388 thousand viewers on September 18, 2020. (…) That’s it. Ten seasons within three years (!!!).”

Stop at low point

How does Joost Maiburg, RTL Boulevard’s viewing figure connoisseur, view this? He writes on his channel Look at ratings: “The season slot of Massa Is Kassa was the worst watched episode of this season. Because of all the riots around Peter Gillis, it was probably the last episode ever.”

He continues: “SBS 6 will only make a decision about a follow-up after the court case and that decision will take some time. In the meantime, it is being played, but an eleventh season will probably never come. The tenth season was also the worst watched season ever (average 503 thousand). So stop at your lowest point.”

‘He’s exited!’

Jan Dijkgraaf, the biographer of the SBS 6 family Meiland, thinks that channel owner John de Mol now really has no reason to keep Peter on the screen.

He says, pointing to last night’s 400,000 viewers: “John de Mol does understand this. Peter G. exits.”
