It remains unclear who would be there because: “There were a few Babyshambles casts and they were all brilliant.”

In 2025, Babyshambles will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their album DOWN IN ALBION. In keeping with this, Peter Doherty has now teased a reunion for the band in an interview.

“We will get together again”

“It’s being considered,” said the 45-year-old in an interview with “NME” on December 20th. “We’ll get back together and go into a room with the instruments and play through the old songs, then go on stage and do it.”

The only hurdle is to clarify who should be there and when. Doherty said: “I think we’ll just keep it on the horizon and look at it next year. Until then I have a new collection of songs that I’m releasing on my own label, which is pretty neat.”

There are still many questions to be answered

When asked if he had another record planned for the group, Doherty was unsure. “I have no idea. I recently wrote a new song that I think would really work as a ‘Shambles song’. Who knows that? There is still a long way to go. It’ll be next autumn so we’ll see.” He went on to tell NME: “The thing about Shambles is that we had so many songs that we never got to record. In fact, there’s a song called ‘Ocean,’ which is now called ‘Stad Ocean,’ which is on the solo album.”

It’s not easy for the artist to answer who should play in the Babyshambles again. “But yeah, it was just a question of who was doing what because there were quite a few Babyshambles casts and they were all brilliant. In an ideal world we would be Pat [Walde, Gitarrist] and Mick [Whitnall, Gitarrist] get her to play and then maybe Gemma [Clarke] and Adam [Ficek] “Get me to play some drums,” he continued in the NME interview.

Adam Ficek doesn’t seem averse either

Since 2014, Babyshambles has remained rather quiet. Doherty’s second band, The Libertines, had reunited at this time after breaking up ten years earlier due to internal differences. But then the singer was joined by Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell and former drummer Adam Ficek at his solo show in Northampton in August 2024. After the band performed songs together there, such as the Libertines song “Don’t Look Back Into The Sun” and Babyshambles “Albion”, Fizek reported back after the concert with a posting on Instagram.

“4 out of 5 isn’t bad…wait for it…” he wrote on August 30. Plus a picture of the four-piece indie rock group. Here the fans already smelled a possible reunion, it seems. Because one comment said: “That’s what I call a reunion.” And another: “This reunion would be better than Oasis.”
