The Piedmontese club, with full points in the standings with 5 wins out of 5, wins FIB recognition for Raffa, Volo and Pétanque
Vita Nova, men’s Pétanque, travels with full points: five wins out of five and a team fully in the running for the top of the rankings. A path worth recognition of FIB Top Teamwon at the end of the fifth day thanks to an impeccable performance within friendly walls against Müller Bordighera, also enhanced by the talent and depth of a top-level squad. The golden moment is recounted by Guido Fiandino, president and coach of the club, who proudly welcomes the entry into the federal directory underlining the group’s growth path: “We have been fighting for the title for several years now. Unfortunately, we have never managed to win the club championship, but we are always there, close to the finish line. This year we have brought in some new faces who seem to have borne fruit: the right players have been identified and it’s not me who says it, but the pitch, which confirms it match after match”.

The base, however, was already solid: “We can count on a long-standing and experienced parterre. This group has known each other and played together for at least seven-eight years. It is our hard core, the real plus that makes the difference.” Starting again from the Final Four in May, Fiandino highlights points of continuity and renewal: “Training has always been a constant, but this year I see the players even more determined to get to the top. Awareness has grown with experience and with the certainty of having an important group, with solid technical and sporting values.” A quality roster, which can boast absolute excellence on the Italian scene: “In the team we have some of the best players in Italy, such as a triple world champion, Davide Laforè. Furthermore, this year we have focused even more on the youth sector: we have an Under 23 called up for the senior national team training camp, directed by coach Riccardo Capaccioni. I’m talking about David De Glaudi, also fresh from the European Youth Championship played in Spain last October”. The president’s gaze then extends to the entire corporate movement: “I am also proud of the women’s team, currently with full points. They will fight to get through to the Final Four with the aim of taking back that title won two years ago. Last year we stopped in the semi-finals, perhaps we lacked a bit of conviction. This year the girls want to redeem themselves and they are demonstrating it from the start”.
de glaudi’s debut

Finally, there is room for the words of the young Italian quoted by his coach, David De Glaudi, who talks about a debut to remember: “The match in San Bartolomeo al Mare was a day to remember. I played both in pairs and individually, winning both tests. These results have strengthened the confidence of the coach, who always gives me a chance in every match”. Despite his young age, De Glaudi shows great maturity and desire to grow: “Having experienced players at my side means a lot to me. It is a continuous stimulus: it is up to me to be good at absorbing their teachings. My point of reference is Davide Laforè: he is my idol. Sharing the pitch with him is an enormous privilege. He took me by the hand from the first moments and I know that, in times of need, he will never leave me alone”. The call-up to the senior national team’s training camp represents an emotion that is difficult to hide: “I have a toothy smile. The training course will be held on February 1st in Bergamo: it will be intense preparation, with the presence of four world champions. It’s a life experience that will shape me as an athlete and as a person. I don’t know where this path will take me, but in the meantime I’m enjoying the journey. I didn’t even expect the call-up, so I’m really happy.” In closing, a dedication that tells a lot about his journey: “I dedicate all this to myself, for having always believed in my potential. I live in a country where Pétanque is rarely practiced; therefore, what I am reaping today is the result of sowing made over the years. And then to my wife, who accompanies me on this journey: even in moments of discouragement she knows how to give me the right energy to move forward without ever giving up.”
