Due to coronavirus restrictions, President Vladimir Putin does not have bilateral meetings at the Beijing Olympics, but they cannot be ruled out. This was announced by his press secretary Dmitry Peskov. “RIA News”.

“Due to covid restrictions, no bilateral meetings are planned. And with [президентом Украины Владимиром] Zelensky also has no plans to meet. Although we cannot completely rule it out,” Peskov said.

The Winter Olympic Games will be held in Beijing from 4 to 20 February. In addition to Putin, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the head of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, his colleagues from Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan Sadyr Japarov and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will come to the Olympics, informed Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. Among the more than 30 guests will also be the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the heads of Poland and Serbia Andrzej Duda and Alexander Vucic. Zelensky is not on this list yet.

Against the background of the aggravation of the situation around Ukraine and reports of a possible Russian invasion of the country, Zelensky has repeatedly invited Putin to meet. However, the Kremlin spoke about the lack of an agreed agenda for negotiations.
