Peru breaks diplomatic ties with Mexico after granting asylum to its former prime minister

Peru cut diplomatic ties with Mexico on Monday. The reason is the asylum that Mexico has granted to former Peruvian Prime Minister Betssy Chávez. She is being prosecuted in her home country for her role in former President Pedro Castillo’s failed coup in December 2022.
