Attack on ex-Schumacher manager: suspected perpetrators caught

Four men are said to have brutally attacked, tied up and threatened couples in southern Germany. One of her alleged victims: ex-Formula 1 manager Willi Weber. Now they have probably been caught.
After the attack on former Formula 1 manager Willi Weber in his Stuttgart villa and on at least two other couples, the suspected millionaire robbers were arrested in Romania. Four men between the ages of 32 and 55 are suspected of having committed the crimes in southern Germany, the police said.
According to the police, the perpetrators always acted in a similarly brutal manner: they overpowered the couples present and stole jewelry, money and valuables. “Their approach was characterized by brutality,” the police said. “They are said to have tied up the couples, threatened them, sometimes injured them and locked them up for hours in order to get to their prey.”
From the two Stuttgart robberies alone, the police expect loot worth millions. The men are also said to have struck in the Neu-Ulm district last June.
In collaboration with Europol – the European Union’s central law enforcement agency – property crime experts were deployed to Romania during the investigation. Romanian and French police and their special forces were also involved in the arrest in the Vaslui district of Romania. At the same time, apartments in France and Neu-Ulm were searched.
Willi Weber hired Michael Schumacher for his Formula 3 team in the fall of 1988 and gave him his entry into professional motorsport. Schumacher became Formula 1 world champion seven times under his management.
