Long negotiations ended
The Olympique Marseille chapter is over for Gerson after a year and a half. The attacking midfielder, who joined from Flamengo Rio de Janeiro in the summer of 2021 for €20m, returns to his former club. Both clubs officially confirmed this on Tuesday. According to “L’Equipe” OM can plan with at least 15 million euros in the course of the change – divided into transfer fee, bonuses and percentage share in the resale.
Marseille officials confirmed talks with the 2019 and 2020 Brazilian champions back in November. Gerson, who contributed 21 goals in his debut season in Ligue 1, has only featured sporadically this season (two goals in 13 games). He then publicly announced his desire to change in the fall and already said goodbye to the team.
