William Rutten is completely in shock. Normally all photos of the Perfect Picture winner are displayed prominently in Museum Hilversum, but now they have been banished… to the basement!
You would think that such a well-watched TV program would be great publicity for that museum in Hilversum, but now they are simply saying that such a photo report from Het Perfecte Plaatje is not artistic enough at all. And so the pictures of winner Antoinette Hertsenberg have been banished to the basement, literally hidden from any daylight.
In the basement
De Gooi- en Eemlander was at the opening with Antoinette and jury member William Rutten and everyone is actually a bit perplexed. “Both Antoinette Hertsenberg and Kaj Gorgels were present at Museum Hilversum to comment on their photos for the guests,” reports the newspaper.
So in that basement. Why is that anyway? It is a decision by museum director Fleur van Muiswinkel. She says: “We are a museum for professional photography. Those photos can be seen on the top floor.”
William surprised
William is completely stunned. He tells the newspaper that he is ‘surprised’ by the place. “The Perfect Picture is delivered to the museum. It is a guarantee for many visitors. In my opinion, the exhibition could have been on a floor higher.”
Some people can’t believe it. “Really?”, says a certain Jan at X.
Rens Muller, the editorial director of De Gooi- en Eemlander, then: “Yes.”
