SC Freiburg is continuing its preparations for the new season. With the Japanese Ritsu Doan, the SC has committed another offensive force.

Japan international Ritsu Doan is moving from PSV Eindhoven to SC Freiburg. This was announced by the people of Breisgau on Tuesday. Confidentiality was agreed on the content of the contract. According to media reports, the fee should be eight to nine million euros.

Hartenbach praises Doan’s offensive qualities

“Ritsu is technically very talented, can do one-on-one and also knows how to be a goal threat. He brings good spatial behavior and energy to the pitch,” says sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. “Ritsu showed in Bielefeld that he can play extensively in the Bundesliga – we will also need that from him. It’s nice that it still worked out after a year’s delay,” Hartenbach continued.

Doan already has Bundesliga experience

The Japanese national striker has already gained experience in the Bundesliga. In the 2020/21 season he was loaned to Arminia Bielefeld. He was directly involved in eight goals in 35 games for East Westphalia.

After signing Ghana international Daniel-Kofi Kyereh (4.5 million euros from FC St. Pauli) Doan is already the second reinforcement for the Breisgau offensive. The sports club also secured this nor the services of central defender Matthias Ginterwho returned to Freiburg on a free transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach.
