On Sunday evening, an 88-year-old was attacked in his apartment in Friedrichshain. Police have now launched an investigation into attempted murder.
The man was found unconscious at his home on Koppenstrasse around 6:30 p.m.
It appeared that unknown persons had previously searched his apartment for valuable items. The exact sequence of events is not yet clear. It is also not known whether the perpetrators fled with loot.
After first aid for the life-threateningly injured man, he was taken to a hospital and treated as an inpatient.
The traces secured in the apartment are now being evaluated.
