“Very special and not fun at all.” Beautiful Wark guitarist Arnold Kuik was on the podium of Boerenrock last night. But there was no more than just waving to the audience.

Kuik is still running with a strong wrist. Earlier this summer he fell during a performance at the TT Festival in Assen of an elevation at the stage. He ended up ugly. “According to Doctors, things are going well. Rehabilitation just takes a long time, there are three months in front of the operation,” says Kuik. “It was a bit crushed, there is a picture in it. The power is completely gone.”

The result: no performances during the festival summer. And Boerenrock in Drouwenermond is a regular shot for Mooi Wark. Kuik would have been happy to have been on stage with a guitar in his hand. Kuik: “Of course you want too fast, and you can feel it again.” Every day he poning something on his guitar. But he is clearly short of strength. “It really doesn’t want it yet.”

And so he is against his will and thank you to look at his rock mates on stage. “I was looking at Truckstar the first time. I already had something like that: I don’t know if I like it.” He has the same in Drouwenermond. “Then the people will be crazy and then you are there, but you are not part of the whole. That is quite difficult.”

Yet, proverbially, he will have to sit on his hands for a few months. In October he hopes to be on stage again as a full -fledged band member.
