Peace – one of the central themes of Christmas – was far away during Christmas night in Bethlehem. During the midnight mass in the birthplace of Jesus Christ, the focus was on the devastating war in the Gaza Strip. The highest representative of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land, Pierbattista Pizzaballa, who presided over the mass, expressed solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
