After Ligue 1’s championship in the 2020-21 season, Lille, who finished last season in 10th place, signed with Fonseca to replace Jocelyn Gourvennec, who was dismissed two weeks ago.
According to the statement made by Lille Club, which hosts national footballers Zeki Çelik and Yusuf Yazıcı, a 2-year contract was signed with Portuguese coach Fonseca.
Fonseca, 49, who previously coached his country’s Paços Ferreira, Porto and Braga teams, led Shakhtar Donetsk (2016-2019) to 3 league and Ukrainian Cup championships in a row, and lastly served in Rome (2019-2021).
