The “Godfather of Britpop”, Paul Weller, has announced his new album. After teasing it on his Instagram page for the last few days, the cat is now out of the bag. 66, his 17th solo album, comes one day before his 66th birthday, on May 24th, 2024. You can find all the information about it here.
“It’s all about what I do now”
As with his previous records, Paul Weller wants to prove at 66 that he can test new worlds and boundaries while remaining true to his values. All in all, the sound carrier should be a little quieter and more introspective. The musician himself explained how he goes about writing his long players: “I don’t think: ‘What did I do on the last album?’ or ‘What did I do 20, 30, 40 years ago.’ I’m not interested in that. It’s all about what I do now.” He has this statement Instagram released together with some video excerpts for the album announcement.
