Paul Groot thinks it’s a shame that RTL Boulevard is no longer the light-hearted, entertaining program it used to be. According to him, the serious crime topics have taken over.
Friend and enemy agree that RTL Boulevard by far the best was when Albert Verlinde still held sway there. It was a controversial program full of villainous opinions about showbiz, but also with a lot of attention to culture and musicals. Especially Albert’s. Anyway, that changed a bit at some point.
Cooking TV
RTL Boulevard always had a lot of crime in the programme, but nowadays there is a lot in it, says Koefnoen celebrity Paul Groot. After the first commercial break there is always a very long crime topic with Clarice Stenger, Kees van der Spek or John van den Heuvel. If you don’t feel like it, you can skip 15 minutes straight away.
For the time being, Paul always watches the entire broadcast, but doubts arise. “It’s often on while cooking, if I’m already home at that time. It chases away the silence, so to speak,” he explains in Veronica Superguide.
Murder
Paul thinks RTL Boulevard is becoming too heavy. “Nowadays there is only murder and child abuse, one lawsuit after another. Previously, it was sometimes about theater, but that doesn’t seem to be popular.”
When the program starts with crime, he increasingly chooses Eva Jinek. “Her talk show is to the pointrelevant and has a nice pace. I usually only see it when I get home after a performance, so on repeat at night. A good summary of the day.”
Celebrity TV
Which programs does Paul find really terrible? “Sword of Damocles-like nonsense actually. Celebrities who want to remain known at all costs by participating in inferior games. Hideous.”
Finally, he also says that he will never go to the cinema again. “Because of the greasy smell and the rustling around you. Great annoyance. As if you were among rats.”
