Paul de Leeuw has watched all episodes of Yolanthe Cabau’s soap and finds it quite unbelievable. “Who will initiate a parliamentary investigation?”

It is a judgment that is often thrown at Yolanthe Cabau: she should fake are. Not authentic at all. She is absolutely not a crowd favorite, so it surprised both friends and foes that Netflix wanted to make a real-life soap with her. Unfortunately it was not a great success, but at least it had one prominent viewer: Paul de Leeuw.

Forty drones

Paul enjoyed that series with his husband, he tells sarcastically Veronica Superguide-guide. “We didn’t feel like starting it, but we gradually became more and more crazy with pleasure watching Yolanthe on Netflix. So typical that forty drones follow her ride on a horse, but the fall is not visible on screen.”

He continues: “And then that camera falls to the ground, that cameraman wasn’t on the horse, was he?!? There should still be a parliamentary investigation into that.”

News hour

What else do Paul and his husband like to watch? “After dinner, my husband and I do our own thing for an hour and a half — sports, Duolingo or some work — and then the agreement is that we will meet again at half past ten at Nieuwsuur. When the leader starts, we run to the refrigerator. No drinks before then.”

He concludes: “If we don’t want to go to bed yet, we’ll watch Show News. We’ll drop out if the items really become too nonsensical. Sieneke has stubbed her toe, or something.”
