Paul de Leeuw is strongly discouraged by the experts from Shownieuws as a potential successor to Martine van Os as the elderly travel leader in We are almost there. “Then it will be the big Paul show!”

After years of complaining about the workload, Martine van Os finally says goodbye as a presenter of the ratings. We are almost there. Omroep Max will continue with the program, but it is still unclear who will be the new presenter. One big TV name has sometimes pushed itself forward as a suitable alternative: Paul de Leeuw.

It would be a dream for Paul that comes out if he can present this show. “I think we are almost an ultimate program. Traveling through Europe with four seniors with caravans, you can wake me up for that,” he said last year.

According to show connoisseur Bart Ettekoven, this program benefits from a presenter who can ignore himself a little. “Someone who can empathize with travelers and offer a listening ear and can get rid of himself a little and puts the main characters centrally,” he says to the desk of Shownieuws.

No option

Paul is not an option, says Bart. “I read that Paul de Leeuw had shouted a while ago in an interview that it is his dream program, but I don’t know if that is something that Paul … I think it will be very nice and that you can laugh terribly.”

Story boss Guido den Attrekker: “Yes, but especially for him, I think.”

Tooske Ragas: “Yes, then it will be different.”

Paul-show

Bart thinks that Paul would really attract such a program. “The danger lies in the fact that it will be a bit of the Paul de Leeuw-show.”

He points out that the presenter of Droomhuis is looking for, which stops, is available: Dionne Stax. “That is of course a bit the same genre presenter. She is also on the payroll at Omroep Max, so it would not surprise me if she has to go out in the summer months with a whole set of campers and caravans.”
