For a long time, the makers of the “Simpsons” had worked on winning Paul and Linda McCartney for a guest appearance in the series. The script as the “Lisa the Vegetarian”, in which the Simpsons daughter friendship closes with a lamb and does not want to eat meat at first, seemed to be suitable for the application at the ex-Beatle.

But Paul McCartney did not agree with this version. McCartney, even a convinced vegetarian, made his appearance and that of his wife Linda dependent on a drastic biographical change: Lisa should also be renamed the meat for the rest of the series, i.e. except for all eternal. “Simpsons” boss Matt Groening did not torch for long and even changed the existing scripts-Lisa Simpson, vegetarian for life.

Lisa only meets the McCartneys towards the end of the episode. APU, who lives as a secret vegetarian, takes it to the roof of his KWIK-W Martes. Paul and Linda are already waiting there to know the Apu from a time together in India. They convince Lisa that animals should not be killed.

In the credits of the episode, while Lisa rides a street along her father Homer, McCartney’s song “Maybe I’m Amazed” sounds. McCartney was partially re-absorbed the play for the “Simpsons”-because it contains a new text, as he tells Lisa on the roof: the ex-beatle now puts on a court for lentil soup in the new version.
