Patti LaBelle actually wanted to celebrate Christmas with her fans and play her last gig of the year. But on Saturday, the soul singer was forced to end her concert at Milwaukee’s Riverside Theater early due to an alleged bomb threat. Most important news: Everyone present was able to be evacuated unharmed.

The incident happened after LaBelle played three songs. Footage taken by fans and posted to Twitter shows the singer conversing with the audience before being suddenly approached by three members of her team. Apparently she is asked to leave the stage immediately.

First Patti LaBelle defends herself, then she storms off the stage

But not with Patti LaBelle! The musician probably first tried to resist. This is what the video on Twitter suggests. “Wait a moment! Wait!” she said into the microphone until one of her companions appeared and whispered something in her ear, after which she ran off the stage with her backing band.

According to “Consequence Of Sound”, it was later said that the building was searched by a special police unit. No explosive devices or the like could be discovered. According to the police, there was never any danger. Of course, that’s no consolation for the audience. Her fans won’t see Patti LaBelle again until February at the earliest, when the next live dates are due.
