No.Do not be alarmed by traditionalists, nobody is going to change your favorite pasta, even if on the occasion of the 145th anniversary of his birth in Parma, pasta Barilla has announced some important news. With a global live streaming event, iThe most famous Italian pasta giant in the world he said that some things will change in 2022. And all for the best.
New look for Barilla pasta
The first thing we will notice on the grocery and supermarket shelves will be the new pack of pasta. The blue color that in the last 2 years had been chosen to signal the use in Italy of 100% local grains, will revert to the original classic deep blue. The most attentive will also notice another important detail: the transparent window showing the contents of the paste will disappear, saving 126 tons of plastic per year. Because, let’s face it, who needs to see the shape of the rigatoni he has been eating since he was 4 years old? Apparently only the Americans and Russians who will keep the window for now.
Those who have a fine eye and a long memory will not fail to notice that the Barilla logo will also be different. From white and red on an egg shape (designed by Erberto Carboni in 1956), it becomes all red, with white writing and the date of foundation of the house, 1877. At the same time modern, minimal and vintage. Placed in the center of a blue package and surrounded by a few pieces of pasta, it will make an impression.
And a new message
And if pasta for every Italian immediately evokes lunches at home and dinners with friends, this is a concept that Barilla is keen to export also abroad with the new claim: “A gesture of love” declined in all languages (eg A Sign of Love). Considering that the old slogans such as “Where Barilla is, there is home” or the immortal joke “Rigatoni“Are part of our childhood memories, we imagine that this too will make its way among the new generations of the 5 continents.
Al Bronzo, the gourmet pasta line
Turning 145 is not a trivial matter, so the historic brand has also decided to split up. On the one hand it maintains all its original range, made of Italian grains in the renewed blue package. But at the same time it launches on the market a new gourmet line of bronze drawn pasta. Special in composition – a blend of Italian grains with a high protein content (14%) – and in the texture: intense roughness And amber yellow color. Drawn through a pure bronze alloy e marked by artfully studied micro engravings, this paste will be rich, rough, full-bodied, intense, even in taste. Able to capture more sauce and satiate more, so much so that we recommend 80 gr each (and for this reason the packs will be 400 gr not 500 gr).
A pasta for connoisseurs and enthusiasts, to combine with the most classic sauces or to be explored with innovative recipes such as the “White on White” one by chef Davide Oldani, which includes a risotto cooking, a dressing based on wheat oil, toasted wheat and raw horseradish. All to enhance the texture and aroma of this very special new pasta.
Ten traditional bronze formats (from spaghetti to fusilli, to new fusilloni) and nine countries for launch, in addition to Italy and Europe, Australia will also try it first. The package is also different. If for the first time – in order to immediately understand its peculiarity – the transparent window will be present (compostable in the paper however), the dominant color will be Barilla red, to stand out on all shelves. Because, explains the Parma maison: “If you taste it, you won’t leave it anymore, but you have to discover it before you do”.
The Barilla shop also reopens
Finally to seal a year that will be all to celebrate, this spring the historic Parma workshop will reopen. A space in which to buy pasta, as was done in 1877, but also for tastings, show cooking and gastronomic events. In this space it will also be possible to discover all the details of the new one Pasta Al Bronzo through immersive experiencesbetween tastings, smells to grasp the aromatic notes, and contacts to appreciate the roughness measured punctually by the “roughness meter”. A message of conviviality that is well suited to the most cooked and appreciated home food by all.
We just have to wish Barilla a happy birthday and experience the news as soon as possible.
