The British outdoor clothing label Passenger has announced the opening of a distribution center in Germany as part of a more comprehensive expansion plan in Europe.
The storage area up to 3,000 square meters is located outside of Düsseldorf and was developed for eight months in cooperation with the logistics service provider GXO, which will also operate the center together.
In an explanation, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from Passenger, Jon Lane, said the partnership came at a “crucial time” for the brand. This records strong growth in Germany and other EU countries such as France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Passenger named the EU as a region with the highest growth, with sales growth of more than 180 percent in 2024 compared to the previous year. The brand is already working with retailers such as Globetrotter, Bergfreunde and Retail Concepts.
Lane added that the team is pleased to “operate our D2C and B2B customers much more efficiently by functions such as delivery the next day and express delivery”.
In addition, a local distribution location means reducing the transport routes for delivered products, Lane noticed when he spoke about the contributions to Passenger’s ESG obligations.
Oliver Kraftsik, Managing Director of GXO Germany, said: “This partnership will be a strong catalyst for the expansion of Passenger across Europe and reaffirm the GXO growth goals in Germany.”
