Pascal Groß raves about Toni Kroos before the home European Championship

Toni Kroos will play for the national team in March. National player Pascal Groß is looking forward to it – and raves about the Real star.

National player Pascal Groß is enthusiastic about the abilities of his future selection colleague Toni Kroos. His ball security is incredible, said the 32-year-old from Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion in an interview with the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”.

“He has the ball under control at all times, his reception is flawless, and he has done so for over ten years at the highest level at Real Madrid. There is always a meaning behind his passes, it’s half a meter back or forth, depending on which direction his colleagues should then advance with the ball,” said Groß.

“Very happy with the decision”

The 34-year-old Kroos announced last week that he was returning to the German national team for the upcoming home European Championship. The 2014 world champion and five-time Champions League winner announced his retirement from selection after 106 international matches after the quarter-final exit at the 2021 European Championship against England. Now he wants to play for the national team again in the international matches in France and against the Netherlands in March – and then also at the European Championship in his own country, which begins for the DFB team on June 14th in Munich against Scotland.

Kroos explained in his podcast “Einfach mal Luppen”, which he runs together with his brother Felix: “Julian had contacted me and asked me if I could imagine something that hadn’t been in my head until then. And yet I am I’m enough of a footballer that a request like this doesn’t leave you indifferent and it’s a great confirmation that what’s happening here at Real Madrid is registered. The fact that the national coach calls and says that I’m needed for the tournament in my own country, that’s it an incentive.”

He then thought about it, discussed it with his wife Jessica and decided to go for it. “I am very happy with the decision and am really looking forward to this tournament,” Kroos continued.
