Partying dressed up in the sun: Knaltibal becomes a summer festival | 1Limburg

Lovers of dressing up and summer temperatures can indulge themselves. The Knaltibal Festival in Kerkrade will have an outdoor edition.

The fourth edition of Knaltibal Festival will take place on Saturday 23 July in the Douvenrader Park in Heerlen.

Organization goes big
Following three sold-out editions of the festival last carnival, organizers Ramon Luckers and Kenny Mordang are now opting for an open-air event. They say they want to go big. “We are aiming for 7,500 visitors. There are three areas with different types of genres and matching artists, various food trucks and large games,” says Mordang.

Homegrown music
Festival goers wrapped in their pekskes can count on performances by, among others, JeBroer, Mr. Polska, Mart Hoogkamer, Mental Theo, Team Atje Voor De Atmosphere and Tony Junior. Limburg artists such as Big Benny, Frans Theunisz and John Tana will also be on stage.

Over sixteen welcome
According to the organizers, young people between the ages of sixteen and seventeen often fall between two stools. That is why it has been decided to apply a minimum age of sixteen years. “We find a first acquaintance with festivals for this target group, in a safe environment, extremely important. We therefore tailor our safety plan as well as our protocols especially to this target group,” says Mordang.

‘Easy entry price’
As inflation will remain high in the coming months, the organizers want to accommodate their visitors. “Especially in these times of inflation, we think it is important to charge a reasonable entrance fee. That is why we have chosen to work with different ticket phases,” says Luckers.

The first tickets will be on sale from 24 May for 5 euros.
