Party week ends in style for accurate AZ player Ernest Poku: “A lot of things worked out”

A nice crowning on already a special week for some players of Jong AZ. No less than ten players who won the Youth League last Monday traveled to Maastricht on Friday evening and won 3-1 against MVV. “A week with a lot of tension, but many things worked out,” says Ernest Poku, who scored the last goal.

Poku was accurate in Maastricht, just like Monday in Geneva against the Croatian Hajduk Split. With that, the wing attacker continues his excellent form.

Trainer Maarten Martens spoke his pride about the team several times. MVV was assured of the play-offs if they won, but the U21 team sold the skin dearly. So expensive that it won a well-deserved victory.

It is a special season for Ernest Poku. The 19-year-old from Amsterdam made minutes in the first team, Young AZ, AZ Under 19 and also regularly plays with AZ Under 18. Where a quick step to Pascal Jansen’s team was in the offing, he still had to stand still. “I was no longer able to sleep and feed. Then I took two steps back and thought,” concludes Poku, who again impresses within the lines.
