Partnership with Fanatics: Sky Sport opens online shop

The Sky Sports media group, which operates as Sky Sport in German-speaking countries, now offers fan articles for numerous popular sports in its own online stores. As part of a new partnership with the US sporting goods supplier Fanatics, corresponding e-commerce platforms were opened last Friday in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Great Britain, Ireland and Italy.

The online stores are “accessible via the Sky sports portals in the territories of Sky Germany, Sky UK and Sky Italia” and are operated by Fanatics, Sky Germany explained in a statement. The “Fanatics – powered by Sky Sport” range therefore includes “over 900 licensed products from the largest sports organizations and clubs from the Bundesliga, Premier League, Formula 1, NHL, NFL, NBA and many other leagues “.

Matthew Primack, Fanatics Senior Vice-President for International Business Affairs and Development, explained the background to the collaboration: “Fanatics is proud to partner with Sky Sport/Sky Sports and Sky Sport/Sky Sports to enter the licensed sporting goods market enable,” he said in a statement. “This launch is a significant milestone for Sky, Fanatics and sports fans in general, as it bridges the gap between fans watching sports and those wanting access to the products that will strengthen their bond with the kits and colours of their favorite teams, immediately.”

Through the “exciting partnership”, the two companies combined their “joint expertise to offer sports fans in the UK, Germany and Italy an even better experience by giving them access to one of the most extensive ranges of licensed merchandise available ‘ said Primack.
