Partner injured | No further Williams appearance at Eastbourne before Wimbledon

Tennis superstar Serena Williams will not do another double appearance in preparation for her comeback at the classic lawn in Wimbledon.

The organizers of the WTA tournament in Eastbourne announced that the Tunisian Ons Jabeur, who played as the game partner of the 23-time Grand Slam tournament winner, had an injury to her right knee. The Williams/Jabeur duo will not play in the semifinals against Aleksandra Krunic from Serbia and Magda Linette from Poland. Jabeur, third in the world rankings, recently won the lawn tournament in Berlin and is one of the favorites in Wimbledon.

Williams and Jabeur won two games in doubles at the Eastbourne tournament. The 40-year-old American played for Wimbledon (June 27 to July 10). Williams receives a wildcard in the third Grand Slam tournament of the year. With another success at Wimbledon, she can equal the record of Australian Margaret Court with 24 Grand Slam tournament titles. Williams has won there seven times so far.
