Partly car-free Steenstraat in Bruges from mid-July

The Bruges city council previously decided to make the commercial center car-free on Saturday and Sunday afternoons during the summer.

The Steenstraat is partially car-free between 15 July and 31 August. The street section between St. Salvator’s Cathedral and the Market is completely car-free every day between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Those are the busiest times. Delivery, loading and unloading can then take place in the morning without any problems. The new measure means that the Market will also be free of traffic during those hours.
