NFL star Patrick Mahomes can basically imagine taking part in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The 28-year-old quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs said this in Frankfurt.

“I would really like to play. I’ve seen some of them playing flag football, they’re a little faster than me. I’ll be 32 by then,” Mahomes noted at the press conference. On Sunday (from 2:30 p.m. on RTL) the Kansas City Chiefs will meet the Miami Dolphins in the Frankfurt football stadium.

The NFL wants to enable its stars to take part in the 2028 Olympics. Flag football, a low-contact version of American football, will be included in the Olympics for the first time at the Summer Games in California.

“This is the pinnacle of sports worldwide,” NFL manager Peter O’Reilly said at a meeting. At first it wasn’t clear to Mahomes how serious he was about his Olympic concerns. The Chiefs quarterback added that he was interested in doing that, but added: “Don’t tell Coach Reid.”

The Super Bowl champion had previously completed the first and only public training session in Germany on the DFB campus in Frankfurt-Niederrad. However, it was only open for five minutes. The media rush was huge.

Head coach Andy Reid led the session in front of the Frankfurt skyline in shorts. The Chiefs are slight favorites in the big game on Sunday.
