Parquet investigates too low sugar level in patient in care home Oostrozebeke

This is reported by Het Laatste Nieuws and VTM. The residential care center has been under surveillance for some time since it was revealed that three suspicious deaths had occurred. There are also six attempted murders.

“It concerns a patient with too low a sugar level for which the doctors have no explanation. Given the situation, this was reported to the police and the Agency for Care and Health as a precaution, but it is certainly not an injection with insulin,” says general director of the municipality Carl Vereecke.

The facts date from last week. The GP of a 74-year-old resident was contacted by the residential care center after it turned out that the man had too low a sugar level. According to Het Laatste Nieuws and VTM, the same patient had previously been the victim of an insulin overdose. The doctor of the wzc is also involved. Neither doctor can find an explanation for the sugar fall, the man is not a diabetic.

Perpetrator not caught yet

“The blood sample immediately showed that there was no insulin injection,” says Vereecke. “But we don’t want to take any risks. That is why the Agency and the police were immediately informed, as well as the staff, the patient himself and his family.” The patient’s health record was retrieved by the court and the case is under investigation. “We have learned our lessons from the past and want to immediately communicate clearly and clearly. There is no reason to panic, but it is important to investigate where this comes from today. Finally, the perpetrator has still not been caught,” said Vereecke.
