Parents demand $25 million from Sesame Street theme park for ‘racism’ | Abroad

The lawsuit that the family is filing against SeaWorld, the owner of the Sesame Place amusement park, revolves around the visit they made on June 18 of this year to the Sesame Street amusement park in Baltimore, USA. They are demanding $25 million for “ubiquitous and appalling racial discrimination,” the complaint reads.

Specifically, the case revolves around four park employees who – dressed as characters from Sesame Street – allegedly ignored Quinton Burns, his daughter Kennedi and other black guests of the park during a meet-and-greet session that particular day. “While those same employees were clearly very enthusiastic about white visitors,” the indictment reads.

Call

Lawyers for the family announced this at a press conference on Wednesday. They also called on other families who recognize themselves in the story to also report to them.

The timing doesn’t seem coincidental, as earlier this week a video surfaced of two black girls being ignored by the characters during a parade in that same park. SeaWorld has apologized and said it will provide additional training to its person to better deal with such situations. The company has not yet responded to the lawsuit.
